Establishment

The St. Joseph County Community Corrections Advisory Board was established by resolution of the St. Joseph County Commissioners in 1981. The Advisory Board is responsible for formulating the county’s community corrections plan and observing and coordinating all local community corrections programs.

 Purpose

The Board seeks to develop and administer incarceration alternatives that hold offenders accountable for the harm they caused while preparing them to be productive and law-abiding members of the community. The Advisory Board consists of a variety of community members, social services providers and judges, all dedicated to ensuring public safety while providing the most effective and efficient corrections options available. The Board meets on a regular basis to coordinate community supervision programs, foster local involvement in the community corrections process and develop new programs to best serve the citizens of St. Joseph County.
