The Board of Commissioners of St. Joseph County believes that our community is filled with every-day heroes; individual citizens or groups, that go above and beyond the normal call of duty to each other and our community. These county residents inspire us all through their dedication to service, athleticism, teamwork, and commitment and pride in St. Joseph County.
Therefore, the Board of Commissioners has established three new awards to be conferred monthly to recognize an outstanding and inspirational Citizen, Business, and Youth. Recipients of these award will have their names engraved on a plaque to be prominently displayed in the offices of the Board of Commissioners. They will also receive an engraved plaque of their own, and recognition at a regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners, as well as on the county’s website and social media accounts.
Award Categories
Business of the Month – awarded to a locally owned business that has had a positive impact on the community.
Citizen of the Month – awarded to an individual or group that exemplifies the qualities of citizenship, teamwork, or service to others.
Youth of the Month – awarded to a citizen or group under the age of 18, that through their example, has demonstrated a commitment to inspiring others through teamwork, dedication or service to others.
